KOLLEKTIVET VINKELHØJ is LOOKING FOR COLLECTIVISTS to join us (June 1st) - couple or one person (all genders)
Hello dear fellow human,
We are looking for new collectivists to join Vinkelhøj in our double room. The current couple is leaving for the countryside so we are on a quest to find new roomies - either individual humans or a couple - who want to join our beautiful home.
We are 6 people together in our villa house in Viby J., around 15 minutes by bike from the city center of Aarhus and only 10 minutes from Marselisborg Forest and Brabrandsstien. The local train station is also just around the corner, so it is also easy to catch a train or Letbanen.
This post is in English as that's house language, but we speak both Danish and many other tongues.
The Room - the semi-basement apartment
You are going to live in a spacious, cozy and bright double room in the basement (which has its own entrance) where you, for example, can have a bedroom in one part of the room and a living room or studio in the other. There is no door between the two rooms. Next to the double room is a bathroom with a shower that you, in practice, have for yourselves.
Our mycelial lifestyle
Together we create a home rooted in community, care, and connection - with each other, with the land, and with the wider world around us.
Everyone contributes in their own way - and we give each other the gift of presence and emotional support. Open communication and trust are essential here. We hold weekly check-ins to stay connected and a longer monthly house meeting where we hang out, plan together, and organise.
Everyone in the collective takes part in our communal activities including gardening, cooking, and working days. We also like to go on hikes, host a harvest party, have a ritual around the fire, forage, have movie nights or enjoy a concert together.
Communal dinners are a core part of the collective. We have vegan dinners together in the evenings 5-6 days a week, so everyone cooks once a week. You join when you can, as we all also have days where we are out. You also don't need to be fully vegan to live here, but we cook plantbased together and love a vegetarian fridge. We get a seasonal veggie box from a local farm every week and have started a local food coop for the neighborhood.
We are exploring ways to live environmentally friendly, regeneratively, and with community care. If that resonates or sparks interest then we’d love to hear from you.
Common spaces
We have a big living room with a reading corner with a zine and book library, piano and CD/tape collection, an integrated kitchen. There is plenty of space to rest and do fun things. A door from our well-equipped kitchen leads you on to our idyllic terrace, where we often have sun-lit dinners during the summer months. From there you can see our garden pavilion, hammock and our little firepit.
In our garden we grow herbs and vegetables in our multiple vegetable patches and take care of our micro orchard of a mirabelle plum and 3 apple trees.
The practical stuff
The rent is 6500 dkk and the deposit is 19.000,-. Additionally, everyone pays 850 kr. each month to buy all the house’s staple foods, dinners and basic sanitary products and Information newspaper.
You will live with:
Balou (9) is our big fur baby, will beg you for food, loves cuddles (identifies as a grumpy-ish old man).
Sarafina (31) is a playful creature with roots in Canada and Denmark. Working to make skillsharing spaces within sustainable and just food practices, open source digital tools, polyphonic folk singing, art and more. Loves a good agenda, solarpunk books and collecting zines. Often found dancing, singing, winterbathing, cuddling, reading, or falling in love with foods.
Anika (34) is a nature-loving human with roots in northern Germany. Works at the university on a water project, and has a little art studio space (with Tutte) where she writes eco-poetry and explores plants and printmaking. Totally living for good second hand bargains, kitchen experiments, poetry and swimming in the ocean. You will see her listen to music constantly and wearing her mothers cowboy boots from the 80´s while drinking zapatista coffee, vermouth tonics or kombucha.
Tutte (37) is an explorer of art who enjoys playing with materials by hand in their shared studio. Loves to move their body through dancing and crossfit while also delving into softness and magic. Enjoys baking low-effort sourdough, slow coffee mornings, reading books about love and giving into Balou's begging for food.
Martin (39) is a huge nerd who likes connecting with the moon (through a telescope), 3D-printing home-designed stuff, keeping people alive at the hospital, doing research in public health, and becoming more radical with age. Martin also likes sailing and generally being in nature. Martin and Tutte are sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
If interested, please send your application by April 6th here on boligportal. We will be having interviews in April. Let us know why you love to join our collective.
